Nose reshaping and profile correction

Procedure

Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty, nose surgery) is used to correct bumps on the nasal bridge, reduce the width of the nose or correct drooping nasal tips. Before the operation, the desired results in terms of the nasal tip, nasal bridge and nostrils, etc. are simulated using a computer imaging program. The nose reshaping procedure is performed more accurately by following the open rhinoplasty technique. The soft parts above the frame of the nose are lifted, allowing the corrections in the areas of the nasal tip, nasal bridge and inside of the nose to be carried out with the frame in full view. If the patient wishes to undergo a profile correction procedure, changes to the chin (see Figs. 1 and 2) are made at the same time. Pre-existing breathing difficulties may also be corrected during nose reshaping surgery. This procedure is known as functional rhinoplasty. In our clinic, the operation is carried out under anesthesia on an outpatient basis and normally lasts between two and three hours.

Aftercare

A plaster cast may need to be worn on the nose for one week following the procedure. Patients can return to work after one to two weeks.
